Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County undertook design of the Ambulatory Surgery Center|Medical Office Building (ASC|MOB) to improve the availability and delivery of specialized healthcare in Sweetwater County. The MHSC ASC|MOB is a 3-story building located in the northeast area of the existing hospital campus. The design intent was to create a thoughtful piece of architecture, respectful of its campus context, yet set apart in its use of form and material. The building is sited to provide high visibility and ease of access for visitors while discretely providing a physical connection to the hospital for employees and service.
The facility, when complete, will encompass 98,000 square feet and house a roof-top helipad for emergency services. The building features a large lobby and small café for public use. Just over one third of the building will house the ASC which includes four operating rooms, two procedure rooms, PACU, pre- and post-op rooms, staff locker and support spaces, administrative services, and central sterile processing. The remaining square footage is divided between the 2nd and 3rd floors which will be fit out as medical offices for hospital employed physicians.
