CHI Health Immanuel Medical Center Patient Room Renovations

Project Description:

The existing design of Omaha’s Immanuel Medical Center’s semi-private rooms offered limited equipment management, very little storage, poor lighting and no space for family wrapped within a cold, outdated environment. Altus was brought on to address budget concerns with the previous design, establish a new, more efficient and cost-effective plan and design with in a fast-track time frame.

In redesigning this space, Altus utilized some of the original design to create a warm and inviting space for patients, family, and staff while delivering on safety, IT, and efficiency concerns. Cost savings were found when existing toilets remained in their current location while the remainder of the patient bathroom design was reimagined around them. Altus simplified the head wall while maintaining all the necessary equipment needed by hospital staff. These innovative design decisions reduced the total cost of the project by nearly $1 million per floor.
