Nebraska Medicine Village Pointe Cancer Center

Project Description:

This typical medical office building was repurposed into a state-of-the-art  cancer center by Altus. The design had to work within previously-established
structural constraints and circulation patterns to make additions and combining  rare equipment in one room. Project specifics:

  • Houses three Linear Accelerator Vaults
  • One vault houses both a Linear Accelerator and CT scanner on rails
  • A screen wall shields the LINAC’s ominous gantry, hiding it from view while  providing caregivers quick access
  • Other areas included diagnosis, exam, and infusion therapy, each with its own entrance to enhance patient privacy
  • Special features include client-preferred private infusion rooms with adjacent open-air rooftop garden, private resource areas for patient’s families, and
    exterior healing garden
  • The interior design team selected natural design elements and soft colors shift attention from medical equipment
